Freshman/Sophomore English:

This course is required for current freshmen and sophomores, and runs on a two-year loop.  This year the course will focus on American literature and will run concurrently with U.S. History class, enabling students to see connections between subject areas and learn subject matter from both classes in a deeper and more meaningful fashion.  This class includes experiences with literature, writing, and speech as studied in three major units each semester.

First semester will include the units focused around the following topics: Personal narratives (Civil War), Oral Traditions, and Short Stories (1920's).  Technical writing, vocabulary development, and grammar skills are a continual focus of the class.
