About me: Howdy! My name is Mr. Birklid. This is my 4th year teaching...my first year in the Ferndale School District. I've taught such subjects as Biology, Chemistry, Freshman Science, Math, Choir, Band, and K-5 Music. I have a special love for biology, earning a degree in zoology (the study of animals) from UW with minors in math and music. I also enjoy coaching Track and Cross-Country. |

Check out our Advisory! We got the opportunity to help out Ferndale's Community Garden. This aids the community by giving needed space for people to grow vegitables, as well as raising food fo the food bank! |

The Birklid Bio class helped raise the plants. Here the plants are, ready for transport to the Community Garden. Biology students also used the plants to perform various experiments on the plants. They mastered the scientific process and also found what conditions allow the plants to grow at their optimal rate. |

This fall, our BRN/IPS class got to work with the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) to monitor water quality. |
