Student Grants

Windward's students have a unique opportunity to write formal grant proposals to attain funding for projects that help their community. Funding is provided by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and each year money is set aside for this internal student grant process. After students submit their proposal, the grants are reviewed by community members, parents, staff and students, who use a rubric to score community involvement, student involvement and relevance to the needs of the community. Student grants empower students and encourage them to look around a take action to meet the needs of the community.
